About Khajuraho

Khajuraho is world-famous for its stunning group of Hindu and Jain temples, renowned for their intricate sculptures and architectural brilliance. Built by the Chandela dynasty between 950–1050 CE, these UNESCO World Heritage Sites showcase the pinnacle of ancient Indian art and architecture.

Of the original 85 temples, 25 survive in excellent condition across three groups — Western, Eastern and Southern. The temples feature elaborately carved panels depicting celestial nymphs, warriors, animals and the famous erotic sculptures that represent the harmony of spiritual and sensual life. An overnight stay is recommended to see all temple groups and the evening Light & Sound Show.
